Savoy cabbage soup with slow cooker – english version

I admit that I don’t like the smell of cabbage too much, the flavor is actually quite neutral. Cooking it in the Slow Cooker pot was an illumination because, never having to open the lid, the smell does not spread throughout the house. Also because I have a through kitchen where there is no door, so I can’t close just turn on the hood to avoid annoying odors around the house.

Also suitable for vegetarians, just remove the chicken and ham from the ingredients naturally.

Savoy cabbage soup cooker ingredients:

5 skinless chicken legs – 1 slice of raw ham – 1 cabbage heart – 350 g of white Spanish beans – 400 g of potatoes – 300 g of shelled fava beans (I didn’t put them because we don’t like them) – 300 g of turnips – 300 g of carrots – 1 onion – 1 shallot – 2 cloves of garlic – 2 stalks of celery – 3 leeks – 1 bunch of aromatic herbs at will – 3.5 liters of chicken broth.

Savoy cabbage soup with the slow cooker procedure:

The night before, soak the beans in hot water. On the day of preparation, clean, peel and wash the vegetables. Cut the carrots, turnips, diced potatoes. Finely chop the garlic, onion and shallot. Chop the leek and celery, cut the savoy cabbage into strips.

Pour the chicken broth into the slow cooker pot and add the vegetables, garlic, onion and shallot, ham and chicken legs cut into small pieces, beans and a bunch of aromatic herbs. Put the lid on the pan. Switch on the appliance, select the “LOW” temperature and set the timer to 5 hours. Add the beans 30 minutes before the end of cooking. Season with salt, remove the bunch of aromatic herbs before serving.

Enjoy Angela.
